Taxi driver accused of raping learner (8) stays behind bars
Lorenzo Aludilu, a taxi driver who was arrested for allegedly raping an eight-year-old learner on multiple occasions earlier this month, was denied bail on Wednesday last week.Aludilu (35) allegedly raped the young girl in his taxi after he was hired to transport her to and from school.
Aludilu, who appeared in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court last week, was denied bail and remanded in custody.
His case has been postponed to 26 June for further police investigations.
Attacked
It is alleged that Aludilu raped the girl on two occasions, on 6 and 7 March, after he picked her up from a private school in Ongwediva. The rapes occurred at 14:00 on both days, according to what the police were told.
Oshana police regional commander, commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, said after Aludilu picked up the learner from school, he stopped at different places before taking her home. He allegedly raped her in his taxi between Ekuku and Ongwediva.
Sakaria said the child’s mother noticed that her daughter was not walking properly, and when she asked what had happened, her daughter revealed that Aludilu had raped her.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
