Woman beats toddler niece to death
Police in the Omusati Region have arrested a 40-year-old woman who allegedly beat her two-year-old niece to death with a stick on Tuesday.
The incident reportedly happened at around 14:00 at Okafitukani village.
Omusati police crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, said it is alleged that the suspect assaulted the toddler with a dry palm stick, resulting in the deceased sustaining a broken right arm.
The toddler, Susan Noongo, became unconscious.
“It is further alleged that at around 18:00, the suspect put the deceased in a baby carrier and took her to the nearby clinic,” Simaho said.
Upon arrival at Omahenene clinic, the toddler was declared dead by nurses.
The suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court today.
