Shorts: Student nurse detained for baby dumping

A 26-year-old student nurse from Ohangwena Region allegedly gave birth and then discarded her newborn into a deep latrine pit in the early hours of Friday. The infant was rescued by police after a family member heard cries from the pit. Both the mother and the premature baby - born at 28 weeks - are recovering under medical care, with the mother under police guard.
