SHORTS: Human remains found in Swakopmund

Police in Erongo are investigating the discovery of human remains found near the Swakop River on Wednesday last week. At approximately 2:00 p.m., a tour guide from a local business in Swakopmund reported finding a human foot, still inside a white Air Force Nike shoe, while guarding camels in the area between the Namwater and Nampower sub-stations. Police said they promptly responded to the scene, and suspect that the deceased, whose dark complexion suggests he may have been of African descent, had likely passed away in the bushy area nearby. Authorities believe wild animals may have scavenged the remains. The body part was collected and transported to the Walvis Bay police mortuary for further examination.
