Short: Learner arrested for allegedly raping schoolmate

An eight-year-old boy at a local school in Ongwediva was allegedly sexually assaulted by a schoolmate, aged 20, on Friday, 28 February.

The incident reportedly took place at the school hostel. Oshana police crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila, stated that the victim’s biological father reported the matter to the police on Tuesday this week. According to Ndjadila, the suspect, who is also a learner at the same school, allegedly entered the victim's hostel room, slapped him on the cheek, and proceeded to undress him. The suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in court this week.
