Second bail bid for Chicago Bar shooter set for April

The bail application of murder-accused Gabes Shiimi (30) is set to formally commence on 7 April. Shiimi made a brief appearance on Tuesday in the Windhoek Magistrate Court.

Shiimi faces charges of murder and discharging a firearm in public in relation to the death of Nande Simon Mulokoshi (35) at the Chicago Bar and Restaurant in Windhoek on 15 June last year.

His lawyer, Vetu Uanivi, who initially indicated readiness to proceed with the bail hearing on 23 January, abandoned the application on the same day after the State called its first witness, warrant officer Joseph Sakaria.

Uanivi withdrew the application after Sakaria testified that investigations were nearing completion, indicating that the defence would allow the police to finalise their work before proceeding.
