Rape of 11-year-old child reported to authorities
A South African couple was robbed at knifepoint on Saturday, with two armed suspects reportedly fleeing with stolen goods valued at N$42 000.
Police are investigating a case of animal cruelty and trespassing after unknown individuals reportedly stabbed a cow at Farm Davetsaub No. 29 in the Otjimbingwe policing area between Thursday and Friday last week.
According to the latest crime report, the suspects entered the property without the owner's consent and inflicted a stab wound to the cow’s right abdomen using an unknown object. The animal, valued at N$15 000, was left immobile. No arrests have been made.
The crime roundup issued by the Namibian Police on Sunday also reported that a South African tourist couple was robbed at knifepoint in their tent at Uitkyk Lodge, Usakos, during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Two armed suspects allegedly tied up the man and fled with cash, phones, clothes, credit cards and car keys, with total losses valued at N$42 000. No suspects have been arrested.
A 46-year-old man was fatally stabbed on Saturday night in Wanaheda, Katutura, following a bar fight.
According to police, the incident escalated when the victim allegedly struck another man with a hammer, prompting the suspect to retaliate using the victim’s own knife.
The suspect later handed himself over to the police.
Rape, drugs and arson
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old man was arrested in Groot-Aub and charged with the alleged rape of an 11-year-old girl.
The alleged incident reportedly took place in a house in which both the suspect and alleged victim lived.
Similar cases of alleged sexual assaults involving minors were recorded in Omulunga, Kamanjab and Tallismanus, with suspects either arrested or still being sought.
The report also highlighted numerous drug-related arrests in towns including Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Rehoboth, Mariental, Gochas and Maltahöhe. Suspects were found in possession of cannabis, mandrax and crack cocaine, with substances valued in the tens of thousands.
One woman in Gochas was reportedly found with skunk cannabis concealed in her handbag, while several suspects in Rehoboth and Mariental were caught with large quantities of mandrax tablets.
Suspected arson and malicious damage to property were reported in Tsumeb, where an office building was allegedly set on fire and a vehicle was damaged with acid.
Extortion, theft and poaching
In Henties Bay, a fraud case was opened after a suspect allegedly impersonated a police officer and extorted nearly N$5 000 from a victim by claiming an arrest warrant had been issued.
Police also responded to a housebreaking incident in Ondangwa, where suspects gained entry and stole electronics, furniture and cash. In Otjiwarongo and Kalkfeld, suspects were arrested for illegal hunting and possession of dried oryx meat without a permit.
Two suicides were reported in Ondobe and Otjiwarongo, one involving a 33-year-old woman and another a 44-year-old man, respectively.
