Police investigate multiple rape cases

The police were called in to investigate three alleged cases of rape over the weekend.

According to the police's weekend crime report, a 35-year-old woman was allegedly raped in the village of Omeege in the Oshana Region on Friday. The suspect is said to have accompanied the victim from a cuca shop to her house. "When they entered the house, the suspect pushed the complainant, and after she fell to the ground, he grabbed her by the neck and raped her," the report states. When the complainant screamed, she managed to escape, and the suspect fled the scene. The suspect has not yet been arrested.

The following day, a 29-year-old man was arrested in the village of Oshikulu in the Oshikoto Region after allegedly raping a woman of the same age. The suspect reportedly accompanied the victim from a cuca shop to her home, where he then made advances on her.

The woman, however, did not want anything further to do with man, after which the suspect grabbed the victim and raped her. There is no relationship between the victim and the suspect. The suspect is expected to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrates Court.

Additionally, a 45-year-old woman was reportedly raped by a 26-year-old man in the village of Okarui (Otjozondjupa Region) on Sunday. It is claimed that the victim asked the suspect to accompany her home from an event, after which the man forced her to the ground and raped her. The suspect has been arrested.
