The Namibian Police Force has reported significant drug seizures and 222 related arrests during December 2025, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat illicit substances across the country.
According to Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the police confiscated a range of drugs, including more than 1,078 kilograms of cannabis, 19,131 Mandrax tablets, 28 grams of cocaine powder, 177.5 units of crack cocaine, 38 grams of crystal meth, and 36 abortion pills.
Of the 222 arrested individuals, 214 were Namibian nationals, while the remainder included one Angolan, three Congolese, one Burundian, and three Zambian nationals.
Shikwambi attributed the arrests to coordinated operations across multiple regions and stressed the importance of continued vigilance against drug trafficking. “These seizures demonstrate our commitment to disrupting the illegal drug trade and protecting communities from the harmful effects of narcotics,” he said.
Police also confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify and dismantle networks behind the distribution of these substances.
The recent operations form part of a broader national strategy to strengthen law enforcement presence and reduce the availability of illicit drugs in Namibia.
