Man rapes, impregnates sister
A 22-year-old man allegedly repeatedly raped his 12-year-old sister at the Oikango village in the Outapi constituency, resulting in the minor’s pregnancy.
Omusati crime investigation coordinator, deputy commissioner Moses Simaho, confirmed the incident.
"The suspect allegedly raped his sister on several occasions, resulting in the victim getting pregnant," he said.
Simaho said the rapes were only discovered after the minor’s aunt recently noticed that she is pregnant.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday and is expected to appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court this week, he said.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Naftal Shihupo (42) died by suicide after hanging himself with a rope inside his sleeping room at Oshikuyu village in the Otamanzi constituency.
The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon.
Simaho said no suicide note was found, and no foul play was detected at the scene.
