Man hacks brother with panga
Attempted murder case opened
A misunderstanding, allegedly on family matters, led to the horrific incident.
A 44-year-old man was fighting for his life yesterday after his brother reportedly hacked him with a panga. The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning at Oshikondiilongo village in the Ohangwena Region. A case of attempted murder was opened.
According to Oshana police spokesperson, Inspector Thomas Aiyambo - under whose jurisdiction the incident falls - the victim was admitted to the Oshakati State Hospital, where he was moved to the intensive care unit.
Aiyambo said the 46-year-old suspect hacked his brother with the panga to his head and both arms after the two allegedly had a misunderstanding on family matters at their late parents' home.
The suspect was arrested yesterday morning, and was set to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court today.
Police investigations continue.
