Man denied bail in rape, kidnapping case

Richard Mukonda (31), who was arrested over the weekend on charges of rape, kidnapping and assault, made his first appearance before magistrate Sonia Samupofu in Rundu yesterday, where he was denied bail. During proceedings, it was revealed that in one of the kidnappings he is accused of, a 14-year-old victim was allegedly locked in a house for two days. The matter was postponed to 2 February 2026 for further police investigation.
