Man arrested for allegedly murdering girlfriend in view of her mum
A 40-year-old woman from Onawa village in the Okaku constituency of the Oshana region was viciously killed on Sunday night after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times in the presence of her mother.
Oshana crime investigation coordinator Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila said the victim, identified as Katrina Amakali, was allegedly murdered by her 50-year-old boyfriend, who, according to police, attacked her with a knife while her mum was in the same room.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
In a separate incident, a 50-year-old resident of the Okandjengedi informal settlement in Oshakati is wanted by police in connection with the alleged rape of his girlfriend’s 12-year-old daughter.
The crime reportedly occurred on 23 November but was only reported to police this week.
Ndjadila said it is alleged the victim’s mother was outside the house when her boyfriend sneaked into the room where the 12-year-old was sleeping and raped her.
“No rape kit was used, as the matter was not reported in time,” he said. Officers are still trying to locate and arrest the suspect.
