Man allegedly orders friends to gang-rape his girlfriend
Police in the Ohangwena Region have arrested two men for allegedly gang-raping a 41-year-old woman at Opalasha location in Eenhana, reportedly on the orders of the survivor's boyfriend.
Two additional suspects remain at large.
Ohangwena crime investigations coordinator Deputy Commissioner Melanie Mbuuru said the alleged attack took place on Sunday evening.
Mbuuru confirmed that two suspects, aged 16 and 24, have been arrested, while efforts to locate the remaining two continue.
The suspects face charges of rape and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), in accordance with the Combating of Domestic Violence Act.
Alleged violent attack
According to Mbuuru, the woman reportedly had been drinking with her boyfriend before he took her to his home. Later, three other men reportedly joined them there.
“The victim’s boyfriend allegedly instructed his friends to have sexual intercourse with her. It is further alleged that the four suspects, including the boyfriend, restrained the victim, removed her underwear, and raped her one after another,” she said.
Following the alleged assault, the suspects reportedly pushed the woman – who lives with a physical disability – out of the house and continued to attack her by punching and kicking her.
The arrested suspects are set to appear in the Eenhana Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
“The remaining suspects will be traced and arrested as soon as possible,” Mbuuru added.
