#JustIn: Newborn discovered buried without lower limbs
The body of a newborn baby, with her lower limbs missing and wrapped in a plastic bag, was discovered yesterday in Mururani in the Kavango East Region.
According to the police, a 26-year-old woman apparently gave birth to a fully developed baby girl at home at the Mile 30 village on Friday. She was by herself in her bedroom.
She then allegedly placed the baby in plastic and dumbed the infant in the bushes away from the homestead.
It is further alleged that she afterwards removed the baby from the place where she dumped the infant, and buried the baby in shallow grave a short distance away.
The remains were discovered yesterday and was transported to the Rundu state mortuary for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The woman is under medical observation and has not been arrested.
