Grandson accused of killing grandparents with axe

Two elderly pensioners were hacked to death with an axe at around 13:25 on Friday in Kayeura village, Kavango West, according to the police.
A 27-year-old man, the couple’s grandson, allegedly attacked 79-year-old Clemens Hamukwaya and 84-year-old Maria Mukuve, repeatedly striking the backs of their necks with an axe. Both died instantly.
Police are investigating the incident as a double murder, with additional charges of domestic violence. Police are also investigating a possible motive linked to accusations of witchcraft within the family.
The suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in court this week. Police say the victims' next of kin have been informed and investigations are ongoing.
