Girl (8) raped while herding goats
NEWS IN SHORT
An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped while she was herding goats at Oshikuni village in the Ohangwena Region on Thursday at 19:00, according to police.
Ohangwena crime investigation coordinator Deputy Commissioner Melanie Mbuuru said the alleged rapist came across the girl while she was herding goats.
Mbuuru said the suspect then reportedly pulled the victim into the bush, undressed her and raped her.
“It is further alleged that the suspect threatened to beat the victim if she told anyone about the incident,” she said.
The assault was discovered when the victim's guardian noticed she was taking too long to bring the goats home after sunset. When asked what had caused the delay, the girl told her guardian about the rape. No arrests have been made to date.
