Girl (5) allegedly raped in Eenhana, suspect behind bars
The Namibian Police are investigating the alleged rape of a five-year-old girl in Eenhana, its weekend crime report states.
Police say a man, whose age was not given, was arrested as investigations continue.
The weekend also included reports of three suicides.
The suicides were reported in Walvis Bay, Epembe and Wanaheda.
Police have opened inquests in all three matters, with no foul play suspected.
In Otavi, a 37-year-old man remains in critical condition after he was allegedly stabbed in the neck with a pen during an altercation in Harambee location on Saturday afternoon.
Police said the suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended and is currently in custody, while investigations continue to establish the circumstances leading to the attack.
In Lüderitz, a 27-year-old man was stabbed twice in the chest following an argument at a local pub in the early hours of Friday. According to police, the altercation reportedly began after the suspect approached the victim and asked to share a cigarette. The victim collapsed and was taken to hospital, where he is now in a stable condition. The suspect has not yet been arrested.
Another attempted murder was reported in Karibib, where a 36-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg outside a nightclub. Police allege the 33-year-old suspect, believed to be the nightclub owner, shot the victim after he allegedly attempted to attack him with a knife.
Break-ins, drugs
In Pioneerspark, unknown suspects allegedly gained entry to a residence through a window and stole solar equipment, including a battery, an inverter and vehicle batteries, with a combined value estimated at N$225 000. No arrests or recoveries have been made.
In a separate incident in Brakwater, suspects reportedly entered a house through an open door and threatened occupants with a firearm before stealing items valued at N$69 300. Police have not yet made any arrests.
On the B1 road near Groot-Aub, a 34-year-old man was arrested after police allegedly found him in possession of a bag of cannabis and nine mandrax tablets during an operation. In Windhoek’s Suiderhof area, a 27-year-old man was arrested during a stop-and-search after being found with 40 grams of cannabis valued at N$2 000.
Stock theft was reported at a farm near Noordoewer, where suspects allegedly slaughtered a cow valued at N$7 000. No arrests have been made. Police say all cases remain under investigation.
