Company donates equipment valued at N$60 000
Omulenge Fisheries donation is in line with the company's goal of empowering Namibians with self-sustainable projects that can generate income over the long term.
Oshana Regional Governor Elia Iirmari has welcomed Omulenge Fisheries Pty Ltd's donation of brick-making equipment to the Okaku Youth Forum.
The donated equipment, valued at close to N$60 000 was handed over by Omulenge board member Jesaya Mutota on the company's behalf.
Irimari expressed gratitude to Omulenge Fisheries, underscoring that the donation will go a long way in empowering the region's youth.
He said it is his hope "that the youth make good use of the donation and maximise profit for their own good. The regional office remains committed to ensuring there are opportunities for the youth."
Shared natural resources
Mutota said the handover is not strictly speaking a donation but should be viewed as a “dividend” declaration to "you, the youth of Iitananga village."
“These are the fruits of the natural resources of our country, and we owe it to our forefathers for making this possible,” he said.
Mutota said the company’s aim is to empower fellow Namibians with self-sustainable projects that can generate income and provide employment over the long term.
He said they are committed to assisting and meeting government halfway to address unemployment and socio-economic inequalities in Namibia.
“This is the reason why we have identified a brick manufacturing project as a viable and sustainable business, and we are grateful to the governor for championing this initiative,” Mutota said.
“It is impressive that Oshana Region has well-functioning youth structures, and we urge other regions to follow suit – only then will those willing to invest have confidence in the capacity of the target audience.”
