Eight dead over weekend
Suboni Twasenga (43) died last Saturday after a hippopotamus attacked him in the Mutundwalo Canal near Kongola. He was allegedly fishing. This is according to the police’s weekend crime report.
In other news, a charge of attempted murder has been laid after a 49-year-old man was reportedly involved in an argument with his son-in-law in Kuisebmond and hit him over the head with a broom. The son-in-law fell and was transferred to Windhoek State Hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made.
Another case of attempted murder was filed after a Tsandi resident was stabbed twice. The victim is currently recovering in the Oshakati State Hospital. No arrests have been made.
According to last Sunday's police report, three cases of suicide were reported in Khomasdal, Katima Mulilo and Okongo this past weekend, while five other people died.
In Outjo, a three-week-old baby, Muhupua Karjirokere, was found dead between her parents in their bed on Friday morning, while another resident of the town was also found dead in his yard that same day - 40-year-old Angolan citizen, Armandu David.
In Omuthiya, 39-year-old Gerhard Antonius died after collapsing, while 62-year-old Haggai Niimbundu from Onayena died shortly after arriving at Onandjokwe State Hospital.
