Another child raped in Omusati
The police in the Omusati Region are investigating another case of rape after a 10-year-old Angolan girl was allegedly raped by a 47-year-old man at Engongo village in the Onesi constituency.
The incident occurred on Saturday during the afternoon hours.
According to Omusati crime investigation coordinator, deputy commissioner Moses Simaho, the suspect - who is the victim’s neighbour - has been arrested.
“It is alleged that the suspect grabbed the victim, removed her trousers and raped her,” he said.
The matter was reported to police by the victim’s aunt.
This is the second case of child rape reported in the region within 24 hours, after a 16-year-old mentally disabled person was allegedly raped by 25-year-old Matias Mbesami at Oshika village in the Onesi area.
The incident occurred between Saturday and Sunday.
Mbesami appeared in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was denied bail. The 47-year-old accused is expected to appear in court this week.
