124 arrested for drugs in May

Various types of drugs to the value of over N$3.2 million were seized last month, while police arrested 124 suspects in connection with drug-related matters.
Of these suspects, 119 are Namibians, while the rest include two Congolese, one Angolan, one Zimbabwean and one Zambian national.
Cannabis was the most seized drug, followed by mandrax.
According to the drug seizure and arrest report for May, more than N$3.244 million in drugs was seized.
This included 288 257 kg of cannabis valued at more than N$2.8 million, 1 465 mandrax tablets valued at N$174 720 and 344 grams of cocaine powder valued at N$172 000.
Police also confiscated 145 units of crack cocaine to the tune of N$14 500 and one gram of MDMA - also called ecstasy or molly - valued at N$500.
