United we stand divided, we fall
I am penning this with serious concerns about football clubs that are struggling to come together in unity to form a strong force ahead of the football season.
It is very concerning that we still have people in the football fraternity who are willing to divide after it appeared that there was a light at the end of a dark football tunnel.
I understand that some football clubs still exist with dual ownership while we are just a few weeks away from league kick-off.
None of these people are unaware of the kind of damage divisions have caused the beautiful game.
Still, there are those instigating division and further turmoil in football through WhatsApp groups and social media.
This are the kind of behavior that could bury Namibian football for good if people continue to refuse to accept the reality on the ground.
I understand some of the clubs have also been making life difficult for the current normalisation committee administration with their sense of entitlement.
There are certain demands being imposed on the leadership as if these clubs own football.
People must understand that sponsors will not hesitate to back out of Namibian football if this kind of behaviour continues.
It was recently announced that there is a sponsor available and it is just up to the football teams to come together and walk in one direction.
My understanding is that the old rivalries - which are far away from pitch rivalries - are refusing to die.
I further understand that there are those who are still trying to prove a point to others while there are those still instigating division.
These are the same people who brought football into this mess in the first place.
It really puzzles me to see that teams have been given a lifeline but are still busy playing with the future of football players.
The fact that some people are still behaving in the ways that ruined football is alarming.
It is clear that some people do not care about the players but instead care about enriching their egos.
The harm that this will cause is much greater than anything if this kind of mentality still exists within football circles.
Many of these football clubs have a rich in history dating back to the days before some of these leaders were born.
We have seen the amount of disrespect and division that is being pushed at a time when all parties need to reconcile and take the game forward.
The good thing is that all stakeholders will be able to have a say in the success of the team if everyone joins hands.
All football clubs will be able to have a say in the success of this new football season and it will not be about individual or personal glory.
Teams would not be teams without the footballers and that is why it is important to make sure that they are well represented.
The fact that we continue to burn down the image of this game without finding lasting solutions will break more players than it already has.
Those involved must show potential sponsors that they are hungry for the game.
This sponsors could be willing to extend their sponsorships to another season too, but can pull out in the first season if things do not work out properly.
I understand that we need to take baby steps as far as mending broken relationships is concerned, but we definitely have to start somewhere.
This is the only country we have.
