Proverbs 31 as a professional woman - Part 47

SPIRIT, SOUL AND BODY
Yolanda Kalenga
Dear loyal readers, I trust that you’re blessed and highly favoured.

Thank you for joining me on this journey as we continue to unpack success principle ten for Proverbs 31 as a professional woman: “She’s strong, courageous and discerning.” Please read parts 36-46 for more context.

In part 46 we addressed some of the mistakes that we make while attempting to trust in the Lord’s strength. To enrich our discussion on this topic, we studied Psalms 37:5 AMP and Psalms 37:7 AMP.

Psalms 37:5 AMP says:

“Commit your way to the Lord; Trust in Him also and He will do it.”

Many times we start off well by bringing a matter to the Lord, with a hope that He will see it through for our good.

At times, we even have a revelation of God’s plans for our lives, yet we quickly abandon it because we think He’s taking long, not doing it the way we want. Or, when people around us mock us for trusting what God said, we start doubting it and abandon it because we want to please created beings above our Creator and His plans for our good (Jeremiah 29:11).

Let us repent for wanting to trust in the Lord’s strength only when it suits us. It’s either you commit yourself to trusting in Him fully and continue to hold on despite what it looks like or nothing at all. It might sound easier said than done, but we need to understand that faith is the currency by which Heaven operates.

How?

Let Hebrews 11:6 remind you that:

“It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”

Meaning that it starts with you having faith and believing in Him – and this includes trusting in His will, way, timing and process.

What we don’t realise is that sometimes the blessing and the breakthrough are a result of a process you go through and grow through, alignment with God’s timing, His perfect way and ultimately His will being done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Trusting in the Lord’s strength is not just about His strength; it’s also about you cultivating a heart posture of loving Him with your all (Mark 12:30), building a relationship with Him and surrendering to how He chooses to display His strength when He fulfils His will, Word, plans, purposes, promises, desires and prophecies concerning your life.

One of the reasons why we get upset with trusting God’s strength is because we want to see it happening our way, but with Heaven’s backing and resources.

However, we don’t stop to think that perhaps the Lord has to break the self-reliance on our own strength because the current version of ourselves is not equipped to humbly receive, steward and glorify God with what He’s planned for us.

He crushes your strength so that you can fully rely on His strength alone – for the revelation of His glory.

So that in the end, you will not just proclaim your faith in Him with your words but will also believe in Him with your heart and not let your actions betray your faith in Him.

Betrayal of faith is sometimes displayed in the way that, despite having the initial desire to trust the Lord all the way, we quickly lose hope and faith when it looks like God’s strength is not showing up in the way that we want. Psalm 37:5 reminds us that it’s not enough to commit the matter to the Lord, you have to trust IN Him, and He will do it. Many times we surrender a matter to God and pick it up when things get tough, but Psalm 37:7 reminds us that no matter what it looks like – “Be still before the Lord; wait patiently for Him and entrust yourself to Him”.

Shalom.
