Proverbs 31 as a professional woman - Part 41
SPIRIT, SOUL AND BODY
Dear loyal readers, I trust that you’re blessed and highly favoured.
Thank you for joining me on this journey as we continue to unpack success principle ten for Proverbs 31 as a professional woman: “She’s strong, courageous and discerning”. Please read parts 36-40 for more context.
In part 5, I shared that Proverbs 31:10-31 reveals that the Proverbs 31 woman “has various roles and undertakes multiple tasks; she uses wisdom to guide her on how to be present with the Lord, both for herself and for everyone else in different times and seasons.
"Meaning: She is not everything to everyone at once, nor does she try to do it all at once or in one day.”
Proverbs 31 as a professional woman seeks to align herself with this approach because she trusts in the Lord’s strength above her own and she seeks His wisdom to guide her on what, when and how to do her work. This requires a humble, submitted and surrendered posture within her. A right posture that brings her into divine alignment with His strength and His will as she trusts Him to equip, empower and embolden her for her assignment.
It takes dying to yourself, your selfish ambitions and vainglory to be able to say:
“Lord, I need you in my work, establish me in righteousness, show me Your ways, teach me, lead me and order my steps in my workplace.”
For Proverbs 31 as a professional woman, she understands that:
“For the Lord’s favour to rest upon her and to give her success in her work, it starts with an awareness that in her professional capacity, she enthusiastically works, firstly, for the Lord Jesus Christ (Colossians 3:23-24 – please see parts 1 and 2 for more context), and secondly, she honours and respects her employer (1 Timothy 6:1-2 TPT).”
Proverbs 31 as a professional woman knows that her job is not just a job, it’s an assignment from Heaven and it needs divine alignment with God – for the revelation of His glory. With this in mind, she knows that her human strength has limitations, but her reliance on God’s strength to get her job done gives her access to divine power and wisdom – which has no limits.
In part 37 I shared that:
“In the book of Psalms, we see that King David understood the multidimensionality of strength and courage as coming from God, within himself, from the support of people around him and from moving in purpose.”
In part 38 I encouraged my readers “to rethink strength and courage by looking at it through the lens of King David as mentioned above. This broadened understanding will inspire you to remove yourself as the pinnacle of strength as you realise that the Lord who gave you the assignment is quintessentially the One who will also strengthen you and lead you to become courageous enough to complete it – for the revelation of His glory. In this, you will need to use discernment as to the type of strength and courage required for the assignment. The Lord’s glory is revealed in the Lord – being your strength, strengthening you or empowering you through a strong and capable team. At times, you will be strengthened and feel courageous because you are walking in divine alignment with the will of God for your life.”
You’re probably wondering what type of conversations the Proverbs 31 professional woman has with the Lord for Him to reveal the above to her.
From a place of loving the Lord with her all and having an awe-inspired, deeply reverent fear of Him, she seeks Him with a heart that says: “Lord I humble myself before You, I need You, I wholly submit and surrender myself to Your will, please -
Help me,
Prepare me,
Position me,
Embolden me,
Empower me,
Equip me,
Show me,
Lead me,
Counsel me,
Direct me,
Enlighten me,
Establish me,
Align my desires with Your desires for me,
Align my heart with Your heart,
Remove any desires that compete with Your glory,
And where I’m wrong, please judge me, convict me and discipline me with mercy.
There’s nothing I can do without You, there’s nothing I want that is not from You and there’s nowhere that I want to go without You – here I am, use me.”
Shalom.
