Uanguta to leave Namcor
Interim managing director of Namcor, Ebson Uanguta (photo), has confirmed that he will be leaving the national oil company at the end of this month.
Uanguta, who is the deputy governor of the Bank of Namibia, was seconded to Namcor in January 2024 on an initial six-month contract, which was subsequently extended to a year.
“My contract ended in December 2024, as I was initially meant to stay for only a year. However, there were a few matters I felt needed to be finalised before my departure. Now that they are resolved, I am leaving,” he said yesterday.
Namibian Sun understands that Uanguta may be in contention for the position of governor at the central bank. This follows reports of an alleged push for the current governor, Johannes !Gawaxab, to step down due to concerns over his extensive business interests.
The Namcor board met over a week ago to shortlist candidates for the managing director position and is expected to announce a new interim MD in the coming days.
