Uaandja appointed new executive director of Emeraldsand Platforms

STAFF REPORTER
Emeraldsand Platforms has announced a key leadership transition with the appointment of Nangula Nelulu Uaandja as executive director, effective 1 July 2026. She will succeed Albe Botha, who has led the company for the past 13 years.

Uaandja, who will join the group on 1 February 2026, brings over two decades of executive experience, including serving as CEO of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and as managing partner at audit firm PwC. Her appointment signals a strategic evolution for Emeraldsand Platforms as it strengthens its presence across media, financial services, technology, data, printing and logistics sectors.

Emeraldsand Platforms is an investment group with interests in property, shares, securities, commodities and related businesses. In 2023, the group acquired control of Namibia Media Holdings Proprietary Limited (now Network Media Hub, NMH) and Newsprint Namibia Proprietary Limited. NMH and Newsprint are involved in newspaper production, news reporting and advertising services.

Botha, the outgoing CEO, will remain on the board of directors, focusing on project management and the group’s strategic rollout over the next five years. “This transition ensures continuity, institutional stability and execution across key initiatives,” the company said in a statement.

Currently comprising over 40 companies, Emeraldsand Platforms is expanding through nine new projects valued at more than N$100 million.

Central to this growth is the group’s Creative Africa initiative, which aims to create more than 10 000 jobs over the next decade across multiple sectors. Tourism, agriculture and social investment will continue to underpin the group’s mission.

The leadership change reflects the company’s ambition to emerge as a regional powerhouse, leveraging its diversified portfolio to drive sustainable economic impact and job creation, the statement added.
