TransNamib executives back at work on minister’s directive
Executives at the state-owned rail operator TransNamib, Webster Gonzo and Alynsia Platt, returned yesterday following a directive from transport minister Veikko Nekundi.
Gonzo, the company’s executive for human capital, and Platt, the executive responsible for properties, had been suspended in February over allegations linked to property management at the company and other alleged breaches.
Nekundi reportedly instructed the newly appointed TransNamib board, announced last week, to ensure that the two executives resumed duty on Tuesday.
The minister expressed dissatisfaction with the company continuing to pay the salaries of suspended executives who were not carrying out any work for the organisation.
