Perlis regent urges investment in Malaysia’s Chuping Valley

His Royal Highness, the regent of the state of Perlis in Malaysia, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullai, has urged Namibian business people to invest in Malaysia's newly developed Chuping Valley Industrial Area.He made the remarks at a lunch hosted in his honour by the High Commission of Malaysia when he visited the country as part of the Programme Mendampingi Rakyat Malaysia (PMRM) on Tuesday.PMRM is an initiative by the Malaysian government to engage with and support the Malaysian diaspora in staying connected with their home country.Speaking at the occasion, Tuanku Faizuddin said: “If any of you are in the business sector, we welcome investments in our newly developed Chuping Valley Industrial Area. We also have an inland port, which is linked from Singapore to Perlis, including Thailand, China and the West to Germany.”Malaysian delicaciesTuanku Faizuddin was welcomed by the acting high commissioner, Dato’ Dr Mohamad Rameez Yahaya, who treated him and friends of Malaysia in Namibia to Malaysian delicacies. Dato' Dr Rameez said Tuanku Faizuddin’s visit is to extend friendship and collaboration. “His Royal Highness is here on humanitarian matters to assist communities in Namibia and explore potential collaborations with Namibia and Malaysia’s Perlis,” he noted.Tuanku Faizuddin said: “We will also be launching a Perlis dish called Perlis Kurma Daging, which is initially from India, but we have modified it to suit our local taste. I hope one day friends of Malaysia who have not yet been to Malaysia will make time and come visit Perlis.”Presented giftsIn attendance were the president of the Namibian-Malaysian Friendship Association, Dr Armas Shikongo, vice-president Amutenya Desiderius, first patron Professor David Namwandi and treasurer Trevor du Toit.Namibian Correctional Service Commissioner General Raphael Hamunyela and the Namibia Football Association secretary general Charles Siyauya also attended.The Perlis Kurma Daging was prepared and demonstrated for the attendees by the Windhoek Perwakilan ladies, headed by Datin NoorZulaikha Rameez.Additionally, His Royal Highness was presented with gifts at the event.
