NampPost takes over social grants from Epupa

Staff Reporter
State-owned postal company NamPost will officially take over the distribution of social grants across Namibia from 1 October, the ministry of finance has announced. The contract of the current distributor, Epupa, will end on 30 September.

Under the new arrangement, grant beneficiaries living in towns and settlements will collect their payments directly from their nearest NamPost branch.

Only recipients living more than five kilometres from a NamPost office will continue receiving their grants via the institution’s mobile outreach services.

The ministry said the decision is aimed at enhancing service efficiency, promoting financial inclusion and ensuring uninterrupted access to grants by eligible recipients.

“NamPost’s national footprint and logistical infrastructure place it in a strong position to deliver a consistent and streamlined payment system,” ministry spokesperson Wilson Shikoto said in a statement.

Current grant recipients are encouraged to attend upcoming regional meetings where further details will be shared.

Payment schedules and collection points will also be publicised via radio, newspapers and community platforms.
