BREAKING NEWS - 8,000 households lack secure land in Otjiwarongo
About 8,000 households are currently living across five informal settlements made up of 21 planned informal settlement areas, according to the municipality.
Residents face limited access to water, sewerage and electricity, as well as insecure land tenure.
The municipality says it is implementing the Flexible Land Tenure System (FLTS) to provide affordable and secure land rights through Starter Titles and Land Hold Titles.
So far, 29 blocks have been identified for FLTS implementation, with 2,905 Land Hold Titles in the process of being transferred, surveyed and registered.
The municipality presented the update to Parliament’s standing committee on 7 October.
