Namibia’s hard-hitting knockout specialist at super middleweight, Paulinus Ndjolonimus, is set to face Denmark’s Jacob Bank in a highly anticipated international showdown on 25 April 2026.

The two champion fighters will meet in Denmark with the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Global super middleweight title and a World Boxing Council (WBC) world title elimination on the line, raising the stakes significantly for both fighters.

Ndjolonimus, also known as John John, is currently ranked number seven in the world by the WBO and regained his WBO Africa super middleweight title last November. The Namibian boasts an impressive professional record of 20 victories (18 by knockout) and two losses, and has built a reputation as a dangerous finisher.

Victory in Denmark could elevate the 38-year-old veteran firmly into world title contention.

The Dane

His opponent, Jacob Bank, enters the contest unbeaten, with 18 wins and 10 knockouts. The Danish fighter is the reigning WBO Global super middleweight champion since November 2024 and is ranked number three by the WBO and number four by the WBC.

Bank's most recent outing was an impressive 12th-round knockout win to retain his title against William Scull of Cuba on 31 January this year. Scull only had one previous loss, when he unsuccessfully challenged Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in Riyadh nine months before.

Fighting on home soil, Bank will be determined to defend his status and edge closer to a full world title opportunity.

The bout is considered one of the most significant involving a Namibian boxer in recent years, with both men seeking to strengthen their world rankings and position themselves for a shot at the ultimate prize in the super middleweight division.

Pushed hard in training

For Ndjolonimus, the fight represents more than just a title opportunity.

It is a chance to showcase his talent on a global stage and to fly the Namibian flag high.

“To be the best, you need to beat the best, and this is an opportunity I am grabbing with both hands,” he said.

“I am fully focused and ready for this fight. I am grateful for the support from the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Academy, where I train with excellent sparring partners who push me every day. We must take risks in life, and I have no fear of fighting on foreign soil, as I have done before. I am going there to represent myself, my country, and Africa as a whole.”

He also expressed gratitude to his sponsors, MTC and core sponsor PstBet, for their continued backing.

Promoter and trainer Nestor Tobias believes the contest is another important step in placing Namibia firmly on the global boxing map.

“This fight holds immense significance for Namibia, as it will showcase our country on the world stage and enhance its international recognition as the Land of the Brave,” Tobias said. “We will continue developing our athletes to put Namibia on the world map, as we did with our former world champions such as Paulus Moses, Paulus Ambunda and Julius Indongo. If you look at our national population and the results we have achieved, our profile can only be described as excellent.”

With pride, rankings and future world title ambitions at stake, all eyes will be on the Sydbank Arena in Kolding, Denmark in April as Namibia’s boxing star looks to seize his moment.
