Yo Maps to light up Rundu and Windhoek
Zambian music star set for back-to-back shows in Namibia next weekend
Excitement is mounting in Rundu and Windhoek as Zambian sensation Yo Maps prepares to headline two concerts on 3 and 4 October.
“The response has been nothing short of phenomenal,” said Peter Musonda Chola, Managing Director of Zanami Festivals, the company producing the concerts. “From ticket inquiries to the buzz on social media, it is clear that fans have been waiting for this moment, and we are confident the shows will be well attended.”
Yo Maps is scheduled to perform in Rundu on Friday, 3 October at Rundu Waterfront, before taking the stage in Windhoek, Zoo Park, Amphitheatre the following evening.
For Zanami Festivals, the supporting line-ups were as carefully considered as the headliner. “Our intention was to create diverse, dynamic line-ups that celebrate Namibian talent,” Chola said. He noted that the company prioritised both established performers and emerging acts. The line up for the Rundu includes P-Star, DJ Vuyo, M-Gee, Yeezir, TKB, Sanzila and more. On the other hand, the Windhoek line uo features DJ Spuzza, Soul Brothers, One Blood, TKB and more.
Chola said the shows are designed to leave a longer imprint than a single weekend of entertainment. “One of the key outcomes we envisioned when inviting Yo Maps was to create sustainable opportunities for Namibian artists,” he explained. “He has expressed genuine interest in collaborating further and is offering features at a significantly reduced rate compared to his standard bookings in Zambia. This opens doors for local artists to access his expertise, fan base, and regional networks.”
Corporate support has been central to making the events possible. Zanami Festivals has drawn sponsorship from Namibia Breweries Limited , Jägermeister, Event Solutions and Makota Events. “Their contributions — whether financial, logistical, or in-kind — are instrumental in ensuring the success of the events,” Chola said. “Their support underscores the collective effort required to elevate Namibian entertainment.”
Chola described the dual concerts as a milestone for both his company and the wider industry. “For Zanami Festivals, our mission is to position ourselves as a premier platform that consistently delivers world-class events to Namibian audiences,” he said. “For the industry, we want to build bridges that connect Namibian talent with regional and international opportunities. These shows are about growth, empowerment, and laying the foundation for long-term industry development.”
Behind the scenes, preparations have focused on production quality. “We have assembled a highly skilled team to manage all aspects of the events, including sound, stage, security, and logistics,” Chola said. “By working closely with stakeholders in both Rundu and Windhoek, we are prioritising seamless execution to ensure that artists can perform at their best and fans enjoy a safe, well-organised experience.”
The company is already thinking ahead. “Zanami Festivals intends to continue hosting cross-border talent and to establish Namibia as a key destination for regional and international performers,” Chola said. “Regular collaborations of this nature will create a vibrant exchange of culture and music while amplifying the visibility of Namibian artists.”
