Yenda Summer Festival Kicks of with Volume 4
The Yenda Summer Festival is set to take over Katima Mulilo this Saturday as the fourth edition prepares to welcome music lovers, families and festival goers from across the Zambezi Region.
The event, now a growing highlight on the northern entertainment calendar, will feature some of Namibia’s most popular artists and a full day of activities.
According to organiser Mepani M, this year’s festival aims to deliver a complete summer experience.
“This year’s Yenda Summer Festival is bigger, louder, and more exciting than ever. People can expect a full-day experience filled with high-energy performances, incredible stage production, a vibrant cultural atmosphere, and nonstop entertainment,” Mepani M said.
She added that the organisers have created spaces that allow festival-goers to enjoy more than just music.
“We created spaces where people can enjoy food, local stalls, games, and a real festive summer vibe. It’s not just a show, it's a full experience from the moment you walk in,” she said.
Mepani M said the lineup includes DJ Spuzza, Kwaito Lager, Shax Champion and TopCheri and many more.
She added that the artists were chosen with intent.
“Every artist on this year’s lineup was chosen with purpose. We wanted a blend of Namibia’s biggest names and artists who truly resonate with the people of Katima,” she said.
True reflection
She added that DJ Spuzza brings energy, Kwaito Lager represents the raw Namibian street sound, Shax Champion connects with the youth, and TopCheri is a powerhouse performer with national influence.
According to her, the goal was to curate a lineup that delivers variety, excitement, and a true reflection of the country’s talent.
Reflecting on the festival’s history, Mepani M said Yenda Summer Festival started as a simple idea to bring entertainment back home and give Katima Mulilo its own platform.
“The event has grown into the biggest event in the Zambezi Region, attracting national brands, major artists, and thousands of attendees. We have expanded our production quality, improved logistics, and created opportunities for local vendors, young creatives, and upcoming musicians,” she said.
Mepani M said the growth has been organic, driven by community love and a commitment to deliver something better each year.
With the festival now on its fourth edition, she said Yenda Summer Festival has been running for four years and this year it's vol 4, and each edition has been bigger than the last.
Feeling energised
"One of the biggest attractions this year is the stage setup. This year, one of the most exciting things to look out for is the massive stage setup, our biggest yet. The lighting, sound, and production quality will give everyone a real festival experience, the kind you usually have to travel far to find,” she said.
Artist Kwaito Lager said he is ready for the stage.
“My preparation has been going great, and I’m feeling energized and ready to bring the house down," he said.
She added that he is most excited about connecting with his supporters. “I’m most looking forward to connecting with my fans in Katima Mulilo and sharing an unforgettable experience with them,” he said.
He added that he is eager to perform his hits “Chincabira” and “Chunke 1.”
