With the release of ‘Golgotha Meets Alexandra’, Namibian DJ Erro has taken a bold step in crafting a musical bridge between Windhoek and Johannesburg, two African capitals linked not only by geography, but now by rhythm too.

Released on 11 July in collaboration with South African producer DJ Mellowbone, the joint EP is a pulsating tribute to township stories, cultural fusion and the power of cross-border unity through sound.

Erro Mulokoshi, known professionally as DJ Erro, is no stranger to Namibia’s nightlife. Born in Windhoek and raised in Wanaheda, he launched his DJ career in 2016, shortly after finishing school.

From humble bar gigs at Kambwa and Ruacana in Golgotha to securing residencies at some of the country's top lounges, Erro’s musical path has been anything but stagnant. Now 27, the Moscow Lounge resident is making continental waves.

A cross-border musical bond

“From Golgotha to Alexandra: two townships, two stories, one sound.” That’s how DJ Erro introduced the project on Instagram.

The message, he explains, captures more than a geographic link. “Mellowbone reached out in April, and we connected instantly,” he said in an interview with tjil. “We decided to exchange gigs across borders, Namibia for him, and South Africa for me. That’s when we knew we had to cement this bond with an EP.”

The amapiano-led project is deeply rooted in township narratives, yet elevated by the ambition of two African DJs with dreams of reaching international ears. “This is personal. It’s rare to see collaborative music between Namibian and South African artists. We wanted to show it can be done and that Namibia deserves a seat at the table,” DJ Erro noted.

Though their townships differ, Golgotha and Alexandra share similar energy: vibrant, gritty, creative. “We didn’t compromise anything. We combined our stories, our cultures, and just let it flow,” said DJ Erro. “It’s about African nations working together.”

The EP also serves as an ode to perseverance. “We wanted the young African child to see there are no limits. With dedication, we can connect musically and conquer the world,” he said. Now, with their names side by side on the artwork, DJ Erro and Mellowbone have paved the way for future collaboration between the two countries' music scenes.

Positive vibes

Supporting them on the project are equally talented artists, including Pronic De Musiq, Josiah De Disciple, Massive Musiq and Jazziy The DJ, all of whom helped shape the final sound with string arrangements and mastering work, while DJ Erro returned home for gigs.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, especially from Namibia. “People are proud. They're excited to see one of their own getting recognition across the border,” the DJ shared. “The support from my family, friends, and team means everything. Big shoutout to my manager Dinholazo and Augusto from Jägermeister for backing this vision.”

DJ Erro isn’t slowing down. Two more projects are in the pipeline this year, including one that will spotlight Namibian artists. His debut studio album 'Resilience' is also set to drop later in 2025, signalling that Golgotha Meets Alexandra is just the beginning.
