Windhoek Jazz Festival set to celebrate rhythm, roots
The Windhoek night sky is about to pulse with the rhythm of Africa as the 2025 Windhoek Jazz Festival brings together some of the continent’s most gifted musicians for a night where jazz meets heritage, soul and storytelling.
Set to take place at the Hage Geingob Stadium on Saturday, this year’s edition, organised by the City of Windhoek promises to be more than just a concert – it’s a celebration of African identity expressed through the universal language of jazz.
From the timeless groove of Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse to the smooth melodies of Mozambique’s saxophone maestro Moreira Chonguiça, the festival’s line-up captures the essence of the continent’s diverse musical traditions.
Joining them on stage will be South African vocal powerhouses Kelly Khumalo and Zama Jobe, Botswana’s dynamic Sereetsi & The Natives, and soulful performer Henry Philemon, creating a fusion of sound that transcends borders.
Local jazz powerhouses
Namibia’s own stars, including Bongani Soul, Sigera Jazz Jazz, Swingers Jazz Band, Ugly Creatures, Esme Songbird, Botselo, and Harmonic Grooves, will bring local flavour to the mix, showcasing the country’s growing jazz influence on the continental stage.
Windhoek mayor Ndeshihafela Larandja described the festival as a symbol of cultural unity, saying it embodies the city’s creative pulse and strengthens its reputation as a regional hub for the arts, tourism and investment.
Every note, every performance will tell a story of resilience, connection and the timeless magic of African jazz.
Tickets are available through Webticket, priced at N$350 until 31 October and N$400 from 1 November.
So, whether you’re a jazz devotee or simply a lover of good music, the Windhoek Jazz Festival promises an unforgettable night – one where Africa’s sound takes centre stage.
