Namibian artist Voster Wamee is set to release his new album, ‘The Moral Compass’, on 25 June.

Wamee, whose real name is Petrus Mbwalala, is known for his love of storytelling and passion for music. The 12-track album encourages people to remain true to their morals and values in a fast-moving world, he explained in an interview with tjil.

Wamee said the album carries a message that people "ought to stay glued to their morals and values and realise the world is running at a dangerous speed, making it very pointless trying to keep up."

Wamee believes art should be driven by authenticity.

"I feel this is the right way to do art, not encapsulated by money, hype and fame, but by being yourself 'organic'."

He revealed that the creative process was painstaking – the album took roughly two and a half years to complete.

"I feel like the amount of time was necessary for me to go through my emotions and express myself to the maximum," Wamee explained.

Wamee also teased collaborations on the project, urging listeners to watch out for artists signed to StaytruNamibia Records.

"There are features on the album, and I want the people to pay attention to the new names, especially the artists from StaytruNamibia Records."

He has released several music videos ahead of the album but said the remaining tracks were equally important.

"I have put out several music videos, although that doesn't mean the rest of the songs are any less important," Wamee said.

He described the project as raw, passionate and soul-drenched.

"The very way I have been impacted by music, I believe music should feel."

Wamee hopes the album reaches listeners and contributes to the growth of the local music industry.

"I pray that this project is heard… the rest will fall into place, trust me. I expect music to win in 2026 not only for me but also for my label and all other creatives, and the caption will be 'ART'."
