Shishani drops new EP

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Shishani’s latest body of work, ‘Miss Catharsis’, has been labelled “one of the most promising releases in the Netherlands this spring”.

Addressing her fans in a press statement, the singer shared that this record is a culmination of many journeys.

“Catharsis means purification, cleansing or clarification and symbolises the source from which I wrote these songs – a need to heal,” she said.

She added that recording this EP allowed her to bring together a musical language that reflects a great deal of her influences, which has been an exciting process with producer JJJ Sielcken.

“My idea behind the record was to bring together various musicians – specifically women of colour – to collectively create something special, and in that sense, creating each track has literally been like a catharsis, hence the title for the EP,” Shishani said.

The rollout plan of the five-track project entails EP release concerts, where she will perform the music live. The concerts are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, 30 and 31 March, in Amsterdam, where the singer is currently based.
