As South African folk-rock duo RAAF – comprised of Lourens and Estè Rabe – prepares to bring their ‘Raafontuur Summer Tour’ to a grand conclusion in Namibia, anticipation is running high among their Namibian fans.

The Namibian leg of the tour kicks off on Wednesday, 5 February at Padlangs Padstal in Mariental, followed by an exclusive wine, art and food concert at Droombos Cigar Lounge in Windhoek on Thursday, 6 February. Windhoek will also host two main venue concerts on 7 and 8 February. The tour then moves to Tsumeb on Thursday, 13 February, at Tsumeb Gimnasium before culminating in two performances at Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre on 14 and 15 February.

RAAF’s connection with Namibia is deeply personal. “Since our first tour in 2016, Namibia has touched our hearts so deeply that we committed to returning annually to share our music,” the duo, who are marrid, shared. “The natural beauty is indescribable, but it’s the people – their warmth, generosity and hospitality – that keep drawing us back.”

Designed to move and inspire

For Namibian audiences, RAAF promises an immersive musical experience filled with emotion, energy and surprises. The duo told tjil that their set list will feature well-known ballads like ‘Ek Wou Nog’ alongside new, high-energy tracks designed to get audiences on their feet.

“There will be poetry, deep moments and times where you’ll want to dance on the tables with us,” they teased. “We’ve put together a performance that’s both technically impressive and emotionally impactful.”

The duo has also added new elements to their tour, including a sophisticated sound and lighting set-up to enhance the live experience.

A special highlight will be the introduction of their own wine, ‘Raafontuur', which will be available for tasting and purchase at every concert.

While they’re keeping some surprises under wraps, RAAF encourages fans to send in song requests via direct messages on social media, ensuring that each city’s performance will have a personal touch.

Embracing Namibia’s musical landscape

Namibia’s diverse and evolving music scene has not gone unnoticed by RAAF. “We are constantly amazed by the incredible musicians in Namibia, as well as the high quality of production and sound engineering,” they noted. As a nod to the country’s talent, local artist Sagarias Tsam has been announced as the opening act for their Windhoek and Swakopmund shows.

While time constraints may prevent them from recording a collaboration this time, RAAF remains open to working with Namibian artists in the future. “We’ve always wanted to record a song while we’re in Namibia. Who knows? Maybe this time it will come together.”
