NTN calls for auditions for next edition of Blended Voices Choral Competition

The National Theatre of Namibia (NTN), in partnership with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), has announced the return of the Blended Voices Choral Competition (BVCC), with auditions officially open for the 2026 edition.

Following the overwhelming success of the inaugural competition earlier this year, BVCC has quickly grown into a celebrated national platform that fuses Namibian choral music with contemporary sounds, drawing choirs from across the country.

As part of NTN’s main programme, which spotlights high-quality Namibian productions, the competition invites schools, universities, churches and community choirs to create original choral arrangements of modern Namibian studio songs.

Choirs interested in taking part can submit a three-minute audition video via WhatsApp to 081 366 2133. Submissions close on Sunday, 30 November.

The performance must feature a contemporary Namibian song, performed live or newly recorded. Traditional songs and pre-composed hymns are not permitted. Audition results will be released on 11 December, with the grand finale set for 25 April 2026 at the NTN in Windhoek.

Celebrating Namibian artists with big prizes

The second edition promises even bigger rewards, with prizes exceeding N$180 000.

The winning choir will walk away with N$100 000 and a trophy, while the second and third prizes are N$50 000 and N$30 000, respectively.

NTN artistic director Nelago Shilongoh said the competition is about more than showcasing talent.

“Blended Voices Choral Competition is more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of Namibian choral artistry and our connection through local music,” she said.

“The first edition showcased our incredible talent, and in 2026, we can’t wait to see even more inspiring performances that will take Namibian choral music to greater heights.” She added that NBC’s role as media and broadcasting partner remains crucial in elevating both emerging and professional talent to nationwide audiences.
