In the quest to stimulate content production in the film industry, the Namibia Film Commission (NFC) opened its 2025/2026 funding cycle submissions. The call aims to support innovative film concepts from emerging Namibian filmmakers operating in the country with production funding.

The submission calls for three short films, three short web series and a minidocumentary. Only first time funding recipients will be supported, while the web series are solely open to applicants that reside outside the Khomas region. The funding further intends to diversify the narrative landscape and encourage regional representation of industry players. It also seeks to give a chance to filmmakers that have not previously been supported by the NFC.

Filmmakers are encouraged to submit film projects that are original, enticing with a local and global appeal. Applicants are additionally advised to be strategic and creative with their marketing plans envisaged distribution channels and platforms.

The commission remains committed to the promotion and development of a conducive and inclusive local film industry that strives to tell unique Namibia stories.

Submissions close 11 August 2025 at 10:00. Applications can be submitted via the NFC website.
