After a brief but intentional pause from the spotlight, Namibian singer SHE, real name Harriet Kaupikua Tjipueja, has made a confident return to the local music scene, releasing two emotionally charged singles – ‘Better’ and ‘Cloud 9’ – that showcase her growth as both a vocalist and songwriter.

The artist, known for her captivating live performances and signature blend of R&B and Afro-soul, quietly released ‘Better’ in November 2024, followed by ‘Cloud 9’ in early April this year. Together, the songs mark a new chapter in her evolving artistry.

“Cloud 9 is about embracing your essence and the power within you,” SHE told tjil in a recent interview. “I wrote it for my inner child, and I think it resonates especially with young women a lot more. The feedback has been good.”

The singer’s recent break from music, she explains, was not a retreat but a recalibration. “I had to take time to reflect, focus on my personal life and career, and perfect my craft,” she said. “I believe I’ve matured vocally, and my writing skills have grown. I’m not shying away this time.”

Exciting artist

With growing traction on streaming platforms and enthusiastic responses from fans, particularly for ‘Cloud 9’, SHE is leaning into her moment. ‘Better’ already has visuals available on YouTube, while a music video for ‘Cloud 9’ is currently in development and expected to drop by the end of May.

SHE has been steadily building her profile through appearances at local music festivals and performances on platforms like the Hunter’s Tjil Sessions.

Collaborations with established Namibian artists have further cemented her presence in the scene. Her artistry – rooted in Namibian storytelling but shaped by a global sonic palette – continues to position her as one of the most exciting voices in the country’s contemporary music landscape.

As SHE returns to form, her message is clear: this is not just a comeback, it’s a new beginning.
