The Namibia Championships of the Performing Arts will host their annual talent showcase at the Windhoek Gymnasium School hall On Saturday, 20 July 20. The showcase, beginning at 17:30, promises an evening of extraordinary talent, underscoring the event's mission to bolster the nation's performing arts industry.

Lomine Langley, Director of Namibian Championships of the Performing Arts, spoke to Namibian Sun about the eagerly anticipated event. "We are ready to host artists from across Namibia," she said. "This year, we have an impressive lineup: 45 items in acting, 102 in dance, 34 in instrumental, 37 in modelling, 1 in revue, 1 in variety, 13 in visual art, and 157 in vocal categories."

Winners in each category will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent Namibia on the international stage. "Participants who secure gold medals will be selected as Team Namibia and will be eligible to compete in Los Angeles next year," Langley added.

Savannah Collins, musician and founder of Songbird Vocal Studio, also shared her excitement with Namibian Sun. "This will be our third year representing the Erongo region. Our students will compete in acting, vocals, modelling, visual arts, and dance categories. Last year, we took home five gold medals, and we are hoping for the best this year as well."

Collins emphasized the significance of the event for her students and the broader Erongo community. "It's a great achievement for us to be part of this showcase. Our students have worked incredibly hard, and this platform allows them to shine and grow."

Tickets for the showcase are available for pre-booking at 0811220562. The event is priced at N$100 per person, with a discounted rate of N$50 for children under 10. The annual showcase continues to be a vital platform for nurturing and promoting the arts in Namibia, fostering a vibrant cultural landscape and providing artists with the opportunity to achieve international recognition.
