Mlindo the Vocalist to headline Swakop Wine & Whiskey Festival

Staff Report

The Swakopmund Wine & Whiskey Festival will return for its second edition on 4 April, bringing an evening of premium tastings, live entertainment and curated culinary experiences to Namibia’s coastal town of Swakopmund.

Organised by Levaro Events, the festival has quickly established itself as a growing lifestyle event designed to bring together wine and whiskey enthusiasts, professionals and visitors in a relaxed coastal setting.

The event offers guests the opportunity to experience curated tastings of both local and international wines and whiskeys, while enjoying live music and social engagement in one of Namibia’s most popular tourism destinations.

Guests will be able to explore a variety of wine estates and whiskey brands while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere of music and entertainment.

The 2026 edition will feature a headline performance by Mlindo the Vocalist, the acclaimed South African artist known for his soulful performances and chart-topping hits.

The evening will also feature performances from Namibian DJs and local entertainers, creating a dynamic entertainment experience for festival guests.

“The Swakopmund Wine & Whiskey Festival is about creating a space where people can enjoy premium beverages, connect socially and experience high-quality entertainment in a beautiful coastal setting," Vetumuna Nguvauva of Levaro Events said.

"Our goal is to continuously grow the festival into a signature lifestyle experience on Namibia’s events calendar.”

New experiences

The festival was conceptualised as part of an effort to bring new lifestyle experiences to Swakopmund during periods when fewer large social events traditionally take place.

“We saw an opportunity to create something unique for Swakopmund," Jo-Marie Ortner of Levaro Events explained.

"At the time, there were limited lifestyle events taking place along the coast during this period of the year and we wanted to give people a reason to travel to the coast and experience something memorable,” Ortner said.

“The festival is about more than wine and whisky; it’s about bringing people together, supporting tourism and creating a vibrant social experience that adds value to the Swakopmund events calendar,” she added.

Supporting local economy

The festival also contributes to local tourism and economic activity by attracting visitors from across Namibia and neighbouring regions.

Events of this nature generate increased demand for accommodation, restaurants, transportation services and other hospitality offerings, while also creating temporary employment opportunities in areas such as event production, logistics and security.

Tickets for the Swakopmund Wine & Whiskey Festival are available via Webtickets and at Model outlets nationwide. Early booking is encouraged as capacity is limited.
