Lize Ehlers heats up 2026 with new album 'Call On Me'

Multiple award-winning singer and songwriter Lize Ehlers (31) has brought the heat to Namibia with her latest album titled 'Call On Me'.

The 10-track project features a range of artists, including DJ Alu, Gazza, Shafa the G.O.A.T. and The BeatBanger.

The title track, 'Call On Me', is already gaining traction across Namibia and is accompanied by a visually striking music video. The song was named Entry of the Year by Touch FM and won the Battle of the Beats on IUM radio.

Ehlers said the album title came from a deeply human place.

”The title speaks to love, friendship, community and even self-trust,” she said.

Inspiration

She described the album as an offering and a reminder that people can lean on one another – and on themselves – when it matters most.

"You don’t have to carry everything alone.”

With the album making waves in Namibia, Ehlers was asked what motivated the album.

“The direction grew very organically. Afrobeat felt like home. Rhythmically, spiritually, and culturally, but as my fans of over 20 years know, I do not conform to one sound.”

Ehlers said she draws inspiration from movement, travel, conversations and collaboration, which led the music to blend Afrobeat with soul, pop and alternative textures.

The album features a range of artists, and when Ehlers was asked about the collaborations, she said they were chosen for their energy and alignment rather than trends.

"I wanted voices and musicians who brought honesty, depth and their own storytelling into the process.”

Ehlers added that she hopes listeners feel seen when listening to the songs.

“I hope they feel held. I want the album to move with them, to dance with them, cry with them, and sit quietly with them when needed.”

Creativity

Asked how the album reflects her growth as an artist compared with her previous work, Ehlers said it represents a deeper level of confidence, both creatively and personally.

”I’m more intentional, more honest and less afraid of silence, space, or simplicity. I’ve grown in how I use my voice, how I tell stories and how I allow emotion to lead rather than perfection."

During an interview on Network Television’s programme Tjil Sessions, Ehlers shared background on the recording and music video shoot.

She said she and her team spent about six months developing the concept before filming once everything was aligned.

Ehlers added that while she has previously handled multiple roles as a songwriter, theatre actor and director, she chose to hand over creative control for this project.

Ehlers, also known as DJ Rise Elder when performing as a DJ, said she is currently working on an EP with Shafa the G.O.A.T., which will include their debut track, Call On Me.

She added that they are putting together a festival set, as she will be DJing in Toronto, Canada.

“I am trying to put Namibia on the map outside the country,” she said.
