Keeping it real

MICHAEL KAYUNDE
Happy new year to all tjil readers. We are back with the first edition of the year and I thought it would be fitting to throw in a personal opinion piece to share my hopes and dreams for Namibia’s entertainment scene in 2023.

Our president has labelled 2023 ‘The Year of Revival’ and that is exactly what I would like to see in our industry. The last two years have not been the easiest for entertainment, thus it is important that we collectively revive the industry. I believe we can do this by bettering the experiences we curate for entertainment events.

In 2023, before you start planning any kind of event, the first thing to do is define your goals and objectives. Many event organisers dive right into planning without even considering this crucial bit of information.

Don’t make this mistake! Setting goals and objectives will actually make planning your event much easier, which will - in turn - yield a better experience for attendees.

Events are an avenue that can grow and benefit the industry in a big way - if curated well. My wish is to see events this year that remunerate the talent accordingly and boast improved experiences.
