Katutura Fashion Week (KFW) is back for its seventh edition, a vibrant celebration of fashion, art and culture. The 2025 showcase promises to be the biggest yet, featuring 65 designers, including 10 international names and a strong line-up of local talent.

According to KFW founder Dennis Hendricks, this year’s runway will feature 57 models, dressed in an exciting mix of Namibian and international couture. Among the international designers are creatives from Réunion Island, which is a French territory, Lesotho, Mozambique, Zambia, Angola and South Africa.

Now expanded into a three-day event, the fashion extravaganza will take place at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) in Windhoek. Proceedings begin with an exclusive opening night on 20 November, a first for the event, followed by two days of runway showcases and fashion exhibitions on 21 and 22 November.

Speaking ahead of the event, Hendricks said audiences should “expect fire” on the runway. “I don’t want to spill the beans,” he teased. “Let’s see what happens on the runway.” Reflecting on the event’s growth, he added, “I really thank God for all of it. We are growing day by day. People are seeing the vision. They understand what the event is about, and that is growth for us.”

Unique flair

FNCC director Martin Beyer, whose institution continues to host KFW, expressed excitement about this year’s edition, particularly the inclusion of a French designer from Réunion Island, the first of its kind for the event. “Réunion has an incredible cultural infrastructure for such a small island of one million people. We’re thrilled to showcase that talent here,” he said.

Hendricks emphasised that the event’s diverse line-up of models representing various cultures and towns reflects Namibia’s unity in creativity. “We have models from different backgrounds, each bringing their unique flair to the runway,” he noted. He also extended gratitude to long-time partners and sponsors. “FNCC has been with us since day one and has become our home. We really appreciate that support,” Hendricks said.

Closing on an optimistic note, he added that Katutura Fashion Week not only celebrates style but also embodies the spirit of Katutura and the extraordinary talent defining Namibia’s creative landscape. “Your partnership makes it possible for creativity to flourish, for our designers to take their rightful place on the regional and international stage,” he said.
