In a new single released on 12 October, musician Sunny Boy speaks directly to those facing mental health challenges.

Titled ‘Heaven Can Wait’, the track delivers a hopeful message that challenges can be overcome, while advocating for resilience during difficult times.

Sunny Boy said the single is dedicated to the late musician Ras Sheehama, who passed away on 5 September.

The song is seasoned and enriched with the soothing vocals of Teqla and features gospel artists Dee'A and Franklin.

In his verse, Sunny Boy acknowledges life’s hardships and encourages listeners to check in on those around them and help find solutions to the struggles they face.

“Talking about it doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re strong,” Sunny Boy sings in the track.

He also urges people to reach out to loved ones, with the lyrics underlining that there are often signs when someone is struggling with their mental health.

Reclaim your power

Despite its heavy theme, the song is ultimately upbeat and advocates people reclaim their strength and power and not be consumed by life’s challenges. It carries a spirit of hope, encouraging listeners to lean on faith to help them overcome.

“We are losing too many loved ones to this illness. We need to start checking up on each other and being there for one another,” Sunny Boy said when he announced the single on his Instagram page.

“Talking about your problems doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re strong enough to realise that you need help overcoming them. Seek help. Don’t suffer in silence," he said with sincerity.

The music was produced by Glo Solani.
