Giving a platform to emerging models
STAFF REPORTER
WINDHOEK
MTC Windhoek Fashion Week (WFW) this week announced that after hosting two castings, another diverse group of models - with a majority of new faces - has been selected. The platform plays a pivotal role in the fashion industry by creating an opportunity for designers to showcase and market their brands. This year, MTC WFW is celebrating seven years of Namibian fashion with a focused theme ‘Sustainably Namibian’.
The first casting attracted about 500 models from all corners of the country who attended the physical casting, while about 70 virtual castings were held, which also featured international models.
A second round of castings was held for models who received a callback.
The final number of models totals 50 women and 30 men, who will be strutting their stuff on the runway come November.
“MTC WFW advocates for equal representation and we do not label any person who is part of the event,” director of marketing and PR, Kalistu Mukoroli, said.
“This year’s event is slated for 1 to 5 November at Maerua Mall. Everyone is welcome to engage with us on social media,” a statement read.
