GIPF launches TV series
Telling Namibian stories
The first episode of 'Our Family Ties' will premiere on NBC on Sunday, 24 March, at 19:50.
This week, the Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) premiered ‘Our Family Ties’ at Ster-Kinekor Grove Mall. The edutainment series was produced for Namibian television, and shares real GIPF stories.
Speaking at the premiere, Penda Ithindi, the chairperson of the GIPF board of trustees, mentioned that the production discusses GIPF benefits through day-to-day scenarios such as normal retirement, early retirement, ill-health retirement, resignation, dismissal, retrenchment and disability. It also touches on death and funeral benefits.
“'Our Family Ties' offers a comprehensive and engaging educational experience for GIPF members,” he added.
The first season comprises six episodes, each no longer than 10 minutes. "The exhilarating production features a selection of talented Namibian cast members who embody the true essence of being Namibian, illustrating the importance of telling our local stories while educating GIPF members through addressing myths about the fund and thoroughly discussing frequently asked questions."
The cast features renowned Namibian actors Armas Shivute and Denzel Leroy //Naobeb - better known as NSK, among others.
Episodes from season one will be released weekly on Sunday evenings on NBC, with the first episode set to air on Sunday, 24 March, at 19:50. The season will draw to a close on 28 April, while the episodes will also be posted to the GIPF YouTube page.
"Through the production and airing of 'Our Family Ties', the fund aims to provide knowledge to its members on the various benefits, therefore leading to empowered and informed members."
